An extremely round-about way to explain a newfound benefit of avocados

I really enjoyed reading our own Fitz’s interview with Man vs. Wild host Bear Grylls. I’ve been a fan of the show since final season and now, from what I’ve learned by watching, I’m confident that I can outlive in the Amazon, the Florida Everglades, and the Alaskan wilderness … providing I can bring my house, my friends, my fiance, a fully-staffed hospital, electricity, a team of research scientists, a Land Rover with in-dash GPS, my DVD collection, an air conditioning and heating unit, a couple of kegs of beer, the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders, a plumber (you always need a good plumber), my iPod, a rescue helicopter, a year-long supply of Boston Market chicken, and access to the NFL Sunday Ticket. Oh yeah — and bug spray.

Okay, fine, so I’m not fairly at the expert level in survival techniques just yet. Still, I would have taken more than 2 avocados. A strange statement, I know. Allow me to explain. You see, in one of final season’s shows, Bear made an extremely arduous climb up an huge tree that had avocados hanging from it (Would that manufacture it an avocado tree? Is there even such a thing? Clearly I’m not an expert botanist or arborist, either). besides, once he was up there, he spoke directly into camera, saying how much he loves avocados. whether my memory serves me, I believe he plus said that he loves mayonnaise, and that whether he could habitable forever on only two things, it would be avocados and mayo. Man those

Brits are strange. Sorry, off on bit of a tangent there. Back to what I was saying — so, he risks life and limb to climb that tree, talks about how much he loves avocados, but next proceeds to only take TWO of them!! WTF? Dude, you’re stuck in the damn jungle — at least seize a baker’s dozen of those not good boys!!

As Bear later explained, avocados are a great source of healthy fat. They additionally digest rather slowly, which means that they will leave you feeling satiated for a good amount of duration. What Bear didn’t mention was that avocados have additionally been shown to destroy oral cancer cells. In a study published in Seminars in Cancer Biology, researchers applied an avocado extract to both normal and precancerous cells. The extract caused the precancerous cells to die but did not harm the normal cells. You see, the team of research scientists I would have had with me would have known that. Who’s the survival expert now?
