Are biological beauty products worth the additional money?

Since biological foods are all the rage, it’s only natural that biological cosmetics would follow suit. But is it really worth spending the additional money on something you don’t actually ingest? According to Bethany’s earlier post, up to 5 lbs a year of cosmetics can be absorbed in to the skin, so perhaps biological cosmetics would have a positive influence on health.

But there’s a problem: Unlike food, which must follow strict guidelines to wear the label ‘organic’, cosmetics are under no such guidelines. biological cosmetics follow basically the same rules that natural cosmetics do, whether it is made from biological materials or not. As far as food goes, to be labelled biological, it must be made from 95% biological fabric and 5% non-agricultural fabric that

is approved by the National biological Program. So basically, it’s up to the cosmetics manufacturer whether they want to follow these guidelines or not.

What do you think? Are you going biological, or is regular make-up just fine for you?
