Doesn't it make you wonder how some people are more successful in achieving a healthy mind and body than others? I remember asking myself why this is. Why do some give up only after a couple of months in wanting to transform their bodies to a fit and healthy state, and on the other hand what does it really take to continue a fit lifestyle and wellbeing. The main problem i see with people attempting to get fit and not succeeding is that they do not leave their comfort zone. If you want real results you better start real training. Now this doesn't mean you have to start living like a monk, but rather taking the grip of responsibility in life. Why not look after our bodies... we are worth it right? When exercising this doesn't mean half heartedly walking of a treadmill for 45mins with not pushing yourself for results. A great saying that i remember hearing some years back was "You can't get someone else to do the pushup's for you" Meaning you need to go out and experience this challenge and conquer it by yourself. Growth Is Key Whenever i workout or training in martial arts i am always looking to stretch myself and my learning. People with exercising should not avoid the discomfort of having to work a little to get the results they originally set out to achieve. So understand that this is where the growth in us lies, not just in health but everything we want to have. After some time i had come to some conclusion that the ones who are out there kicking butt with a great success and growing themselves from the inside out are the ones who are taking the bull by the horns rather than running away. So go ahead, grab the bull by the horns and take that ride. How do you know until you try?

Is it possible for someone age 62 to become obssessed with weight loss? My sister is having trouble with aging and trys to keep up with the latest styles and trends...and I think she is also trying to become excessively thin. She has always been about a size ten but starves herself now to stay about a size 3. She looks awful...her skin is a strange color, her bones protrude and she complains of being cold constantly. She also is very fatigued all the time. Another obssession is constantly pointing out how "Fat" everyone else is. This is hurtful as I am trying to lose about 40 pounds since I was ill with adrenal insufficiency two years ago and piled on the weight when treated with steroids. The rest of the family (six siblings) also feel she is getting a bit "off" and unstable in her thinking. I am worried for her but she takes great offense when I tell her she is getting too thin for her health and age. She basically thinks I am just jealous but I am not since I am taking off abut three pounds a week now due to a life time change in eating and recovering my health naturopathically. She seems so insecure and is very lonely due to a recent break up. I feel like she is trying too hard to keep that "young" look and instead this is making herself look "very old" beyond her years. How does one approach something like this since she denies she is "too thin"?

2 months ago, as soon as I got home from college, I started a 800 - 1000 calorie a day diet, and started doing an intense workout everyday. The good news: I've lost 20 pounds! The bad news: What's next? I know that my diet was very restrictive but it got me the results I've been trying to achieve-- I'm 120 pounds, I can run 5 miles straight, I look healthy. But every time I have even started to ease up a little on my diet, i've jumped up like 5 pounds. And those were moderate attempts, not full out binges. I was wondering what people's experiences have been with coming off low-calorie diets like mine. It seems like once anybody loses a lot of weight they become these health nuts that can't just eat normally. I can deal with maybe being a little more food-conscious if it means maintaining my weight. What really worries me is that I'm stuck at this low level intake forever. I want to eat healthily at this weight that I am happy at. Any advice for levelling off after a diet is over?

The American Health Association reviewed 74 different studies and came up with a specific list of strategies that consistently help people make healthy lifestyle changes. Check them out and see if you're using them . If you can't beat 'em, pick 'em and eat 'em -- dandelions that is. Dandelion greens are packed with beta carotene, vitamin C, and magnesium . Best of all, you can forage from your own. Just make sure you're finding them in a clean yard where chemicals are not applied to the grass. Continue reading...
