Every diet or weight loss expert seems to recommend keeping food journals of everything you eat if you want to lose weight. I want to know how successful people are with this really. Is it honestly worth it all the time and energy? I can’t even keep my checkbook balanced and I definitely eat more times throughout the day than write checks. Also, it just seems really inconvenient to have to physically carry around a journal with you everywhere. I do know that there are certain diet programs like Nutrisystem or Jenny Craig that

offer online tools to keep track of what you eat. An online tool seems like it would be easier than having to write it all down, but to use it you have to be on their meal plan, and I’m more interested in trying to lose weight on my own eating real foods. I guess my question is if other people have had experience with keeping a food diary and what has worked for them to help them stick with it?
