Although lions in the wild are considered a threatened species, the captive lions that live in the USA are growing in numbers. This is mainly due to the exotic pet trade and the illegal breeding and sale of lions as pets. Usually this proves more than the owners can handle

which leads to a lot of unwanted, neglected big cats in cages. Perhaps that is the thinking behind the lion farm in Illinois that has started selling lion meat to restaurants. Continue reading…
