From Diet Blog Share: If been on low GL foods for almost one month now. I haven’t eaten a piece of bread since then, and just slipped occasionally when invited. (In the amount of maybe one small chocolate cake or a croissant per week.) I’m also journaling what I eat, so I know that almost every day I stay under my daily caloric allowance, mostly between 60-80 % of it. (Although a friend of mine tries to convince me that with low GL you don’t have to pay attention to calories – just like Gary Taubes says.) I do workout every other day, mostly on an elliptical trainer. Until now, I alternated long stretches of low-heart rate workouts (one hour at 130), and some kind of intervalls (3 minutes low, 30 seconds high for 20 minutes). I just changed that to HIIT and bodyweight-workout. But, no results! I really don’t get it. When is the effect of low GL foods supposed to kick in? Does one little

croissant really put you back on square one? Does it “mess up” your whole metabolism for days and your body has to start anew to get you out of a high-glycemic state? I don’t believe that! I didn’t do any starter weeks. I just switched to low GL foods. I am eating less calories than I burn, and I’d even pass the Weight Watchers test because I don’t indulge in cheese or pour olive oil on my food by the gallon. I eat lots of fruit (no bananas), lots of veggies, nuts, yogurt, chicken and lean meat. I’m really a bit stumped here. Is there something I’ve missed about low GL? Should I reduce my calories more drastically? I’m between 1400 and 1800 calories a day. I am 43 years old, female, 5′ 7″ and at 192 pounds. And no, I haven’t built that much muscle mass yet to explain the mystery. ;-)
