Filed under: Fitness , Celebrities and Entertainment Summer is on the horizon, and for many of us, that means increased travel. And, if you don't plan accordingly, travel can mean that you miss out on your workouts -- but you don't have to. Just make like Jennifer Lopez and bring some lightweight equipment along with you on the road! Lopez's trainer, Gunnar Peterson , works out his most bootylicious client using the TRX Suspension Trainer . It's portable and super light -- less than two pounds -- and, as long as you have a door or another secure point, it'll work anywhere you go! It's definitely a cool piece of equipment -- Peterson says that Lopez does "push-ups on them, rows, hamstrings -- there's not a body part that you can't hit using it. It allows you to work with your body weight depending on the angle and how much you pull on it." However, there are some less expensive options out there when it comes to suspension training, because we don't all have $150 to throw down on a new piece of equipment, right?
Filed under: Celebrities and Entertainment Tabloids recently report that Scarlett Johansson lost 14 pounds off her 5'3" frame in preparation for her superhero role in "Iron Man 2." "If I were to lose 14 pounds, I'd have to part with both arms. And a foot," the star writes in a a recent Huffington Post column . There you have it -- Johansson has not lost a bunch of weight. She might be a bit lighter and a tad more toned, but it has nothing to do with over-the-top training or quick-fix diets, despite what tabloid headlines are accusing. Nope, the 24-year-old is simply eating right and working out. "While training for an upcoming film, I've come to this conclusion: chin ups are near impossible and lunges suck," she confesses her rebuttal. "There is no magic wand to wave over oneself to look good in a latex catsuit. Eating healthy and getting fit is about commitment, determination, consistency and the dedication to self-preservation." Johansson admits that she's pumped up her effort to look a certain way for a certain role (she also says she'll cut back her workouts to 30 minutes per day after filming), but she is appalled that "toilet paper rags" are getting rich by making false claims about her diet and fitness practices. It's reckless and dangerous, she says. "I would be absolutely mortified to discover that some 15-year-old girl in Kansas City Healthone of these 'articles' and decided she wasn't going to eat for a couple of weeks so she too could 'crash diet' and look like Scarlett Johansson."
Filed under: Fitness , Food and Nutrition , Diet and Weight Loss Week 15 at "The Biggest Loser Couples" started with seven contestants walking into Macy's for makeovers, now it's down to six. Finale fever is spiking as hot as Ron's grip for control of the game. Makeover Week was full of style surprises and heart, tempered by the show's most serious injury to date. Healthon for upside down BOSU tips, Jillian's musings on metabolism, a red carpet makeover and one seriously cracked hip. 10-Story High Cable Walk -- Loved this challenge, which Tara won in comeback mode for a $25,000 kitchen makeover and restocked fridge. But hey, I used to work on a high ropes course and rock climbing is my middle name. Ron couldn't complete this challenge, either. No Temptation this week, a good thing considering this season's track record.
Filed under: Food and Nutrition , Diet and Weight Loss Most chain restaurants -- except a few like Applebee's -- provide nutritional information on websites or via pamphlets and posters at point-of-sale. But who actually requests the nitty-gritty nutritional details from a server or a fast-food cashier? You're starving, and they're rushing to take your order and upsell an appetizer or biggie fries. Common sense tells me hardly anyone asks, and now there's proof. A new observational study found only 0.1 percent of fast-food patrons -- that's six out of 4,311 observed -- accessed on-premise nutritional information before placing their orders. Why is point-of-sale nutritional information available in an ask-only format, when consumers won't ask? Since most of us won't verbally inquire, a readable "1,500 calories, 35 grams of fat" aside that double cheeseburger combo meal with fries and drink is not only better, it may be just the stare-in-the-face you need to prompt a better choice. Like the required weigh-in upon entering a Weight Watchers meeting, I need the nutritional lowdown in bright lights. When will the fast food/chain nation follow NYC and Philly's lead to mandate calorie posting on menus? Health | Health | Health | Health

But what I love to see on the show are the celebs who shed pounds and really get in shape while quick stepping and fox trotting . Most of the celebrities on the show are still keeping up with their other jobs. When Cameron Mathison was on the show, he was flying from west coast to east coast in order to be on DWTS and "All My Children." So how do the stars keep up with the rigorous training schedule and still find time to give their bodies the proper fuel? Many of the celebs rely on a food delivery service called Freshology . Lil' Kim loves the convenience of the calorie-controlled meals. Past DWTS contestants and Freshology customers include Melanie Brown, Mario Lopez, Marlee Matlin, Laila Ali and Stacy Kiebler. Long before she donned the skimpy DWTS costumes, Denise Richards used the program to shed her pregnancy weight. Even host Samantha Harris has used Freshology's programs to look great in front of the camera. Many of the celebs rely on a food delivery service called Freshology . Lil’ Kim loves the convenience of the calorie-controlled meals. Even host Samantha Harris has used Freshology’s programs to look great in front of the camera. You might not be dancing on TV, but would you use a food delivery service?Health | Health | Health

Filed under: Diet and Weight Loss A study came out recently that examined the relationship between vegetarians and eating disorders , and it's stirring up some serious controversy. It found that adolescent and young adult vegetarians, while more likely to be of a healthy weight and follow a healthier diet filled with fruits and vegetables, also "may be at increased risk for disordered eating behaviors, such as binge eating and unhealthful weight-control behaviors (such as forcing themselves to vomit, using diuretics and laxatives, and taking diet pills)." Yikes! Of course, a conclusion like this has been picked up by plenty of outlets. Diet Blog has a particularly lively discussion going on in theHealth, and an interesting point is broached. Is it really that vegetarians face an increased risk of developing an eating disorder? Or, is someone with an eating disorder just more likely to gravitate toward a restrictive diet, such as vegetarianism? When you think about it that way, it makes a lot of sense. An anorexic teenager can use vegetarianism to more easily hide his or her unhealthy diet -- Mom and Dad will be far more likely to accept their child's refusal of a pork chop if it's because their child is a vegetarian, and might not notice that far fewer calories are being consumed.
