Doesn't it make you wonder how some people are more successful in achieving a healthy mind and body than others? I remember asking myself why this is. Why do some give up only after a couple of months in wanting to transform their bodies to a fit and healthy state, and on the other hand what does it really take to continue a fit lifestyle and wellbeing. The main problem i see with people attempting to get fit and not succeeding is that they do not leave their comfort zone. If you want real results you better start real training. Now this doesn't mean you have to start living like a monk, but rather taking the grip of responsibility in life. Why not look after our bodies... we are worth it right? When exercising this doesn't mean half heartedly walking of a treadmill for 45mins with not pushing yourself for results. A great saying that i remember hearing some years back was "You can't get someone else to do the pushup's for you" Meaning you need to go out and experience this challenge and conquer it by yourself. Growth Is Key Whenever i workout or training in martial arts i am always looking to stretch myself and my learning. People with exercising should not avoid the discomfort of having to work a little to get the results they originally set out to achieve. So understand that this is where the growth in us lies, not just in health but everything we want to have. After some time i had come to some conclusion that the ones who are out there kicking butt with a great success and growing themselves from the inside out are the ones who are taking the bull by the horns rather than running away. So go ahead, grab the bull by the horns and take that ride. How do you know until you try?

Hi! I started my weight loss journey about 10 months ago. I have lost 70 pounds so far. I started out at 270, I am 5'2" and 32 years old. This is my current exercise schedule: Monday, Wednesday and Saturday I do 1 hour of zumba. On Tuesday, Thursday and Friday's I walk about 1 mile and on Sunday's I walk 3-4 miles. I eat about 1500 calories per day. I have cut out red meat considerably, maybe once a week, stick with chicken, turkey and fish. I don't drink anything but water, 1 glass of milk a day and 1 cup of coffee a day. Any suggestions on what I can do to push through this plateau, as I still want to lose 65 pounds.

I am 45, 5'4" and 206lbs female. I do have a controlled hypothroid condition. I am so confused in how many calories I should eat to lose my weight. I had a calorie point test done which revealed I need 1207 calories per day to sustain bodily function and then it goes on to say that I need 1569 calories to do what ever it is that i do on a day to day basis (excluding exercise). So what is the Resting Metabolic Rate? 1207 or 1569!!!! Which goes into my next question. I consume roughly 1400 to 1500 calories per day and workout 5 days per week and burn (according to my heart rate monitor) 700 calories per workout (that equates to a pound a week....supposedly) My weight is coming off a lot slower than a pound per week. Am I eating too much or not enough???? Some sites say I should eat more, some say i should eat less. :-( One site said I should eat 2400 calories per day...thats insane to me!!!!!

2 months ago, as soon as I got home from college, I started a 800 - 1000 calorie a day diet, and started doing an intense workout everyday. The good news: I've lost 20 pounds! The bad news: What's next? I know that my diet was very restrictive but it got me the results I've been trying to achieve-- I'm 120 pounds, I can run 5 miles straight, I look healthy. But every time I have even started to ease up a little on my diet, i've jumped up like 5 pounds. And those were moderate attempts, not full out binges. I was wondering what people's experiences have been with coming off low-calorie diets like mine. It seems like once anybody loses a lot of weight they become these health nuts that can't just eat normally. I can deal with maybe being a little more food-conscious if it means maintaining my weight. What really worries me is that I'm stuck at this low level intake forever. I want to eat healthily at this weight that I am happy at. Any advice for levelling off after a diet is over?

The good news: I’ve lost 20 pounds! The bad news: What’s next? I know that my diet was very restrictive but it got me the results I’ve been trying to achieve– I’m 120 pounds, I can run 5 miles straight, I look healthy. But every time I have even started to ease up a little on my diet, i’ve jumped up like 5 pounds. And those were moderate attempts, not full out binges. I was wondering what people’s experiences have been with coming off low-calorie diets like mine. It seems like once anybody loses a lot of weight they become these health nuts that can’t just eat normally. I can deal with maybe being a little more food-conscious if it means maintaining my weight. What really worries me is that I’m stuck at this low level intake forever. I want to eat healthily at this weight that I am happy at. Any advice for levelling off after a diet is over?
